2021 Dodge Durango Overview
This year, the Dodge Durango arrives in showrooms with a few brand-new engines in its lineup, including a V8 SRT Hellcat model that offers astounding torque and horsepower. The Durango also gets more aggressive lines befitting its muscle car influences, and you can now get a huge 10.1-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone support with the Uconnect® 5 infotainment system. Overall, when you add the low-range gearing and true four-wheel drive, this is a vehicle that competes for best in class in terms of style, substance, performance, and technology.
Uconnect 5 Infotainment System
Dodge has packed the Durango with the latest Uconnect® 5 infotainment system. This brings with it a number of features, starting with an available 10.1-inch touchscreen with full HD graphics. It also gives you wireless support for your Apple or Android smartphones, and you have the option to upgrade to a Harman Kardon premium sound system with a whopping 19 speakers. Finally, you'll get plenty of ports both USB A and USB C to charge your devices and stream media, so everyone will stay entertained and informed even on long road trips.
Power and Performance
The engine lineup on the new Durango is pretty astounding. The Hellcat SRT 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine is available at the top trim level but doles out 710 horsepower and a powerful 645 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is a V6 3.6-liter that gives you 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Between those two are two other available V8 options that give you 360 horsepower and 475 horsepower, respectively. Any engine you choose will give you plenty of power to get where you need to go both on-road and off.
Towing and Hauling
If you do plan to have your Durango do some heavy lifting, you'll want to equip it with the Trailer Tow Group IV. This package is an available add-on at the SXT and higher levels and comes standard at the Citadel level. It adds the necessary wiring harness and Class IV hitch plus low-range four-wheel-drive gearing, improved suspension, and other necessary tweaks to get the maximum possible 6,200 pounds of towing capacity.
When it comes to hauling cargo, you get a maximum cargo capacity of about 85.1 cubic feet and a payload of 1,350 pounds. Without the seats folded down, you'll still get 17.2 cubic feet of space for luggage and groceries.
